simple ingredients like onion can make great remedies!

I had been having a sore throat for a few days. On Friday night, it was just so unbearable that I couldn't sleep. I checked the time, it was 1 a.m. in the morning. I got up and thinly sliced up just a bit of onion and put it in a cloth wipe to make a raw onion poultice. Amazingly, half an hour later, I was sound asleep.

Here's how to make a raw onion poultice:

  1. Thinly slice onion

  2. Spread it on a cloth (or chucks) and fold it over

  3. Put the side with only one layer on the neck and the poultice should be from ear to ear

  4. Put cling wrap or a plastic bag over it

  5. Leave it on for several hours (don't leave it over night, onion can irritate your skin)

Onion is an excellent drawer so you would never use half an onion and wrap the rest in a cling wrap. It absorbs all the chemical in the cling wrap. Instead put the half facing down on a china plate. If you have a lot of left-over onion, chop it into pieces, put them in a glass jar and store it in the freezer

An alternative for sore throat: Heating Compress

  1. Wet a sock

  2. Wrap it around the neck

  3. Put plastic bag around the neckPut a scarf around it

  4. Leave it on for several hours or over night.
