I want to share this beautiful experience with you when I was visiting a neighbourhood Thursday 10 Jan, 2019.
"Knock, knock, hello?"
"Sorry, not interested!"
For the entire week, I knocked on doors, trying to share books and Jesus with the community. The books that have changed my life and helped me to know Jesus better as a friend and what God has done in my life. I got rejected again, and again. Feeling rather discouraged, I dragged my heart along with me. I had a positive and excited exterior but feeling disappointed on the inside.
"Knock, knock!"
A 70 year old looking man came to answer the door. He wasn't interested in anything I had to offer, but decided to give me a small donation for the work that we do with the young people. He grabbed his key and limped out to his car to get some coins for me. I asked him what happened to his foot because it was so swollen. He said he wore shoes too tight and it's been more than a week now.
I asked if I could do some simple natural treatment for him. He asked if it costed anything. Of course no. And he happily invited me in. We did an alternating hot and cold treatment. I was hoping that it would help alleviate his pain and reduce the swelling.
He was very thankful when we finished the treatment. I put a book in his hand for him to read while he rested.
33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
Matthew 25:33-40
I am thankful God gave me an opportunity to be His hands and feet!
